Handling oil and chemical cargo and slop water in the same tank

Background

This applies to oil and chemical tankers which may store slop water in cargo tanks.

In Telscope all tanks have a specific tank type and can only be used for the associated content. Hence, if a tank is configured as a, say, a "chem cargo" tank, it will be available as a cargo tank in the cargo record book, but not as a slop tank.

Solution

These used for several purposes must be duplicated in Telscope. So in this example, the same tank should be registered both as a "chem cargo" tank and as a slop tank. The tank should have the same name, but we suggest adding the content to the name for clarity.

Go to Settings Tanks, to edit the tank configuration:

The tank will now appear as a slop tank in Telscope. Telscope users must assure that such duplicated tanks are used for only one purpose at a time. In this example: When using "CARGO TK 5 PS (SLOP)" for slop water the corresponding chem cargo tank "CARGO TK 5 PS" should be empty.
