RAID: Replace Failed Drive

A REPLACEMENT OF HDD DRIVE IS REQUIRED

 

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

☐  Print out this article

☐  Fill in the relevant information below

☐  Prepare with screwdriver Phillips for M3

☐  Which HDD should be replaced, A or B, you should have received this information from the Telko Service Department

The serial number starts with ISN

NEW HDD:    ISN

OLD HDD:     ISN

 

PHYSICAL REPLACEMENT OF HDD:

☐  Push the power button once and wait for it to power off

☐ Disconnect power cable

Locate the tray A or B  you want to remove/replace and unscrew the two Thumbscrews with fingers or a screwdriver
    # very important to remove ONLY the disk to be replaced and leave the other one in the server

Verify that the serial number on the disk that was removed matches the serial number you received from the Telko Support Department

Unscrew or screw 4 pcs x M3x4mm Phillips countersunk head screws as indicated. Replace or remove the device as needed

Insert the replacement HDD Drive in the empty slot

 

RAID CONFIGURATION:

☐  Tum on the server

☐  During server boot, press < Ctr|>+<|> when Press:<CTRL-l> to enter Configuration Utility screen is displayed
# This screen passes very quickly so pressing the key combination repeatedly will the server boots is recommended
# If the screen passes, wait until the server has properly booted up, power down the server and try again

☐  Once in the RAID Configuration Utility screen, the replacement drive should be detected and display a [ DEGRADED VOLUME DETECTED ] prompt
Select the replacement drive and press < ENTER>

☐  The RAID volume status should now say Rebuild in yellow to indicate that the volume will be rebuilt once fully booted
Verify that the physical drive section list all drives as members of the RAID volume with the status in green

☐  Exit the Configuration Utility screen
# The server will now boot and continue rebuilding the RAID volume (this may take a while)
# The failed drive MUST be properly disposed of to prevent data recovery.
